Ricasoli 1141 — Castello di Brolio
The oldest winery in Italy, documented since 1141, and the birthplace of Chianti as we know it: in 1872 Baron Bettino Ricasoli — twice Prime Minister of Italy — wrote down the Sangiovese-based 'recipe' here. The castle grounds are open daily from March to December without booking; cellar tours and tastings in the new Limonaia need a reservation.
