Renato Ratti
In 1965 Renato Ratti came home from Brazil, bought vines below the abbey of Annunziata in La Morra and did something nobody had done: he mapped and ranked the Barolo vineyards, cru by cru. That map is the ancestor of today's official vineyard names. His son Pietro runs a strikingly modern winery with a small Barolo museum in the old abbey; shop open seven days.
